A Vibrant Symphony, Part II
The British artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen installed “Bass” at Schaulager Basel. The piece has since been adapted to complement Schaulager’s own architectural character, flooding the space with a 40-minute, immersive presentation of low-frequency tones and spears of shifting hues.
Steve McQueen’s installation uses a custom designed LED strip containing the Visiolite Vibrance™ LED chip in combination with high precision RGBW to achieve 8 channel color mixing. The LEDs are coupled with a custom controller using 16-bit precision, expanding the color gamut to include every wavelength of the custom LED spectrum.

A Vibrant Symphony
The British artist and filmmaker Steve McQueen installed “Bass” at DIA Beacon. The immersive environment spans 35,000 feet, with 60 lightboxes that cycle through the spectrum of visible light as bass music plays.
When the DIA Art Foundation invited Steve McQueen to create a work for its museum in Beacon, N.Y., the curators assumed that he’d propose a film or video project. It made sense: McQueen is the British director of the Oscar-winning best picture “12 Years a Slave” (2013) and other acclaimed movies such as “Hunger” and “Shame.”

A Masterpiece of Light and Design
Designed by Wes Lane of Evolve Lighting Design in Austin, Texas, the Gilead Discovery Path features cutting-edge lighting technology that brings the Cancer Ribbon to life. Wes utilized Visiolite X-Pix Classic, addressable LED strips controlled by LEC3 and Madrix pixel mapping software to achieve a stunning, interactive light display.
Located in Foster City, California, this animated installation doubles as a public seating area, transforming into a dynamic display of colors and patterns that symbolize the various cancer awareness ribbons and their associated causes.

Luxurious Living at Hargrave Drive, Hollywood Hills
A high-end residential project in the Hollywood Hills, designed by lighting designer Karl Jonsson. Hargrave Drive features an innovative lighting installation integrating high-quality light sources with advanced wireless controls and Low Voltage Direct Current (LVDC) power distribution, known as X-PoE — centered around a centralized power source for both indoor and outdoor lighting.
The LVDC/X-PoE system cuts embodied carbon by over 40%, extends system lifespan to over 30 years, and achieves over 95% efficiency when coupled with solar panels for off-grid use. Lighting includes the Visiolite Vibrance™ LED strip for vibrant, multi-color accent lighting, controlled via Casambi’s wireless mesh.
